ARTIST LIVES HER DREAM
About the Artist
Deeply inspired by the natural beauty of the Gulf Coast, Susan McCubbin’s work captures the tranquility, energy, and subtle moods of the seaside through expressive watercolor paintings and finely detailed colored pencil drawings. Her style blends delicate realism with fluid spontaneity—balancing vibrant, transparent washes with intricate textures and refined line work.
Working both en plein air and in the studio, Susan brings a thoughtful, feminine perspective to her subject matter—often portraying coastal landscapes, native flora, and the quiet poetry of nature. Her mastery of color, composition, and light creates artwork that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
Susan is a graduate of San Jose State University with a BS degree in Business. While working she kept her soul alive by taking art classes and attending workshops. Susan’s work has received numerous awards and has been featured in juried exhibitions—including the CPSA International Colored Pencil Show—held in private collections and regularly showcased in galleries across the state. She is an active member of the Florida Watercolor Society, Suncoast Watercolor Society, Colored Pencil Society of America, Tarpon Springs Art Association, and the Professional Association of Visual Artists (PAVA).
